Wandering through Piccadilly Circus and taking the requisite frosty river ride on the Thames...strolling along the canal up to Regents Park and then on to the London Zoo...grabbing West Indian food in Brixton and curries in Southall...shopping for vintage clothes of Brick Lane and dirt-cheap kirsch a stone's throw away from Kings Cross...seeing famous names at the Tate Modern and soon-to-be-famous names at the Saatchi Gallery...taking death-defying bike rides through central London...being jostled while bargain hunting on Oxford Street...making a point of visiting every one of the royal parks...seeing just underneath the glossy sheen and learning that London is more than the postcard-picturesque Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and Notting Hill...feeling as though the city was mine, if only for four months.
