My Highlights
Buying homemade plantain chips, searching for ginger nuts, and eating ripe mangoes
from the trees at Ashesi University during our lunch break...bargaining
for batik in Makola Market and searching for the pineapple lady, who
skillfully balanced a tray of the sweetest Cape Coast pineapples on
her head...listening to live reggae on the beach, surrounded by the
beauty of the night, intoxicated by the sounds of music and the
waves crashing on the sand...lying around the bonfire at Coconut
Grove, drinking fresh palm wine, and remembering the canopy walk
over the rainforest earlier that day...riding my bike through Aburi
Botanical Garden and taking pictures to send to my family, knowing
it was impossible to truly capture the beauty and depth of what I
was witnessing...traveling by bus to Togo for spring break, lounging
by the piscine, bathing in the sun, making
friends, drinking
Lebanese coffee, playing pool, and dancing
until the sun came
up...constantly recognizing how lucky I was
to be living an
traveling in West Africa, exploring different
cultures, interacting
with people and sharing their traditions.
