Created just for first-year students, the program in Florence is based on a strong liberal arts curriculum that meets NYU’s high academic standards. This innovative academic program is designed to hone your critical reading skills, promote creative and logical thinking, and give you the extensive writing practice you will need when you arrive at your college in the spring. Courses cover a broad range of subject areas, preparing you for more in-depth studies further on in your college career.

You'll take classes at La Pietra, NYU’s breathtaking 57-acre estate located just north of the city center. Surrounded by a beautiful gardens, cypress-studded hills, and olive groves, La Pietra houses an early Renaissance art collection, classrooms, student residences, a dining facility, and computer labs.

All courses of the Freshman curriculum carry four credit hours.  A normal course load is comprised of four 4-credit courses for a total of 16 credits.
