Scholarship and Aid for NYU Students
Studying abroad doesn't necessarily cost more than a semester in New York. The
cost of tuition remains the same, while costs associated with housing and meals
is generally equivalent to that in New York, and may even cost less in some
cases.
As an NYU student all your current aid applies to your semester or year abroad
at an NYU study abroad site. If you receive aid, you are encouraged to submit a
the Financial Aid Appeal form online in order to have your current financial aid
package re-evaluated based on the estimated expenses of your study abroad
program.
Appeal for Additional Financial Aid
NYU students wishing to be reviewed for additional NYU financial
aid during their semester abroad should complete the
online Study Abroad Financial Aid Form which is also
included in the acceptance email only if they have been admitted to an
NYU study abroad site.
Students who submit the online form by November 6th for the spring
semester and April 6th for the fall semester will be given priority
consideration.
Once you have submitted the form your request will be reviewed by the
Office of Financial Aid at New York University. You should allow at least two weeks for
processing. You will be able to view your financial aid package,
including any adjustments for upcoming semesters, using Netpartner, the
Office of Financial Aid's online system.

NYU site. Decisions are based on both merit and need. Applications
for the fall 2008 semester are now closed. Only applications submitted before the deadline will be considered.

NYU offers students who apply for the Gilman Scholarship the chance to be considered for the Class of 2005 Award at the same time.
The graduated class of 2005 grants two awards of $850 to help two students
defray the additional costs associated with a semester abroad. All NYU

Financial Aid from your Home School
In many cases, non-NYU students who receive financial aid from their home school are able to use some or all of their financial aid toward the NYU program. To initiate the process of receiving student loans and federal or state grants while studying abroad with NYU, you should visit the financial aid office at your home institution right away and ask to have a consortium agreement established with the New York University Office of Financial Aid. This allows your home institution to process federal aid and transfer it to NYU for a semester or year abroad. The Office of Financial Aid of your home institution should fax the form to our office at fax number (212) 995-4103
or mail it to the NYU Office of Global Programs at 110 East 14th Street, New York, NY 10003. The form will be forwarded
to the appropriate section of the NYU Financial Aid Office for processing. Please allow 2-4 weeks for processing.
Need-Based Financial Aid from NYU
If none or a significant amount of your financial aid from your home school will not transfer, then you may be considered for need-based financial aid through NYU. For consideration for need-based aid, please send a copy of your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or SAR (Student Aid Report) to the
NYU Office of Global Programs.
An official copy of your most recent financial aid award letter from your home
institution is also required to be considered for NYU funding. Do not send the FAFSA electronically to NYU. Please confirm that we have received all necessary documentation after sending to ensure that your application for aid is complete and can be reviewed.
The deadline to submit all required documentation to be considered for NYU
need-based financial aid is April 4th if applying for fall, and November 7th if
applying for spring. Please note: students’ whose home schools have an institutional relationship with NYU are not eligible to apply for need-based financial aid.
