Application Process

DEADLINES: The application deadline  for the full academic year 2010 and fall 2010 is February 15th and September 15th for Spring 2010 for all schools. Deadlines are strict!

1. Review Partner Schools

Click here for a list of NYU's partner universities. Select the school that most interests you and start gathering information.

2. Research the Courses

Stop by the Office of Global Programs to look at course catalogs, or for the most up-to-date information, follow the links to your potential host university's course listings. Just like at NYU, not every course is offered every semester. Be sure to pay attention to the course level and semester it is offered. In several of our exchange partner schools, certain courses are only available for a full year. Talk to a Global Programs adviser if you need assistance deciphering course offerings.

3. Meet with Your Advisor

Confirm with the advisors in your school and department that the courses you intend to take through the exchange program will be appropriate for your academic plan. Keep in mind courses cannot be guaranteed ahead of time. It is best to approve more than you need to give you flexibilty. Fill out and turn in the academic planning form along with your application materials.

Credits will be evaluated by the Dean's office in each school. CAS students may visit the CAS Advising Office at 905 Silver Center for academic advising regarding the exchanges.

4. Return Data Form

The Student Data Form and accompanying materials must be submitted to the Center for Study Abroad and Special Sessions located at 110 East 14th Street, Lower Level. See deadlines above.

5. Complete Host University Application

Most schools require you to complete a version of their application form. If your school's application form asks for an application fee, please double check with NYU Global Programs to see if it is truly necessary (it is usually not necessary). Some univeristies have an application form available for you to complete ahead of time. Others will invite you to complete an application only after an initial review of your Student Data Form.
