At NYU, we strongly believe that your study abroad experience shouldn't end when you get back to the United States. In fact, you may find that you learn just as much when your return home—as you reflect on your time away and talk about it with your friends and family-as you did when you were actually there!

There are a couple of things we do to keep your international experience alive once you've returned to the U.S.

We'll make sure you've got a receptive group to come home to

We host events for "returnees" that put you in touch with other students who've shared your experiences. These events will give you a chance to talk to students who can easily share your excitement about that great gelato place right off Piazza San Marco or that fantastic trip you took to Burkina Faso. That grainy video you took of Wenceslas Square with your cell phone? The people you'll meet at our events will appreciate it.

We'll give you a chance to "show off" and talk about your study abroad experience with the next group of students.

For those of you who want to be especially involved when you return, we've started the Global Ambassadors program. As an Ambassador, you'll help our office create and implement the great programming we discussed above, but you'll also have the opportunity to participate in student-run sessions about study abroad for prospective students. By the time you come back, you know our programs better than anyone, so we want to make sure that the next group learns from your experiences.

We'll help you if you're having any re-adjustment difficulties

Coming back can be difficult-sometimes even more difficult than going in the first place. If you're feeling restless, overly tired, "reverse homesick" or just plain strange, please contact us. We're here to help. You can also call NYU's Wellness Exchange (212-443-9999) for advice. They're available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

If you've got questions about returnee programming and support, please contact us at (212) 992-9940 or global.education@nyu.edu. We look forward to speaking with you!
