Scholarships and Financial Aid
NYU Students
NYU students who study abroad at NYU at AUP keep all the scholarship and financial aid that they normally receive while attending NYU's Washington Square campus. Please visit the financial aid page of our website for information on how to request additional aid for your semester abroad. All NYU students who plan to spend a fall semester studying abroad should apply for the prestigious Sir Harold Acton Undergraduate Fellowship. The deadline to apply for this
fall-only scholarship is early April.
With the exception of tuition, all costs are estimated and may vary depending on the student's budget.
In addition, student insurance (health and accident) is mandatory and will vary according to individual policies.
Most students should expect to purchase AUP health insurance, at a cost of 540 euros for the semester. With the AUP insurance plan, students can visit doctors from a specified list at no out-of-pocket cost. Students who have their own health insurance will need to provide detailed proof of coverage that meets certain requirements.
Tuition covers 12-18 points, deposit and registration fees, and several
program activities. For each point taken in excess of 18 points
in a semester, there is an additional charge per point. Tuition includes the
week-long orientation, but does not cover
non-required trips or personal travel. Students are billed electronically through NYU's E-bill system. Please visit the NYU Bursar web site for details about the E-bill process.
*These are the recently released rates for the
2008-2009 academic and include tuition and registration fees. NYU students pay their
individual school tuition, which may differ for Stern and Tisch.
**Least expensive option is based on a chambre de bonne (very small, no
amenities, utilities not included) at $2,880 - $4,000 per semester. Most
expensive option is based on a “homestay” (room in a private home, utilities
included) with some meals included, at $3,120 - $4,800. Please keep in mind that
costs may fluctuate with exchange rate. For housing placements that do not
include utilities, students should plan on spending a minimum of $70 per month
to cover the cost.
Students are strongly encouraged to secure their housing through AUP’s housing
coordinator. Because low-cost housing in Paris is very limited and because
housing contracts vary widely from landlord to landlord, AUP’s resources will
make your transition to Paris easier and more successful. Students who choose to
find housing on their own must notify NYU and AUP via the appropriate form
(located under the “Admitted Students” section of this website).
Assistance through one of the world's largest providers of medical and security evacuation as well as general travel aid (e.g., lost document assistance). This company provides 24-hour global services with the help of our site staff to our students abroad.
Housing Insurance Fee
***French law requires all renters to have housing insurance. If you obtain housing through AUP, you are automatically charged €52 for this insurance. (The cost in USD above is an estimate. The actual charge in USD will be billed to your student account based on the exchange rate at the time of billing.) Students who find their housing independently may also choose to take this insurance, and will not be automatically charged for it.
Based on 14 weeks. This estimate does not take into account dining out.
Costs include local transportation (Carte Orange is 50 Euros per month), laundry, telephone, utilities, and books.
