General Information for Study Abroad Applicants
Who Should Use this Application?
This application should be used by all applicants wishing to join an NYU Study Abroad Program for the fall and/or spring semester, including:
- NYU Students (students currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at NYU).
- Visiting Students (students currently registered in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited US college or university in the United States who are not on academic or disciplinary probation, nor currently on leave of absence.).
- Special Students (individuals not presently enrolled in a regionally accredited college or university who have completed at least one year, or 24 credits, of college-level work or who have graduated).
Students wishing to apply to admission to NYU in New York City should not use this application and should instead visit the Office of Undergraduate Admissions website.
Admissions Procedures
You may submit your electronic application for admission as early as you would like, and we will keep it on file. Applicants will be notified via email once a decision is reached. The following is a schedule of application deadlines and dates of notification.
Fall Semester / All-Year Applicants

Application Requirements
NYU Students
Complete the online application form which requires a personal statement. If you are admitted to study abroad, you will have to be approved by your advisor prior to registration.
Visiting and Special Students
Only applications with all the following materials can be reviewed. A completed application consists of the following:
- Online Application Form
- Personal Statement (completed on this website)
- Letter of recommendation
- Academic Transcript*
- Statement of Language Proficiency**
*If your institution does not release official transcripts to students, then transcripts may be sent to the NYU Study Abroad Admissions Office at the address listed below. Students only: a sealed official transcript from your most recent institution of higher learning is acceptable.
**Required only for native language Study Abroad Programs
Note: Upon acceptance, you will be required to submit a confidential medical and immunization report completed by your physician.
