NYU has never thought of itself as agated community. It has always encouraged its students to think of themselves as participants in and shapers of a complex and changing environment. Indeed, part of NYU’s teaching mission consists in preparing students for lives in a diverse world, and faculty at NYU believe that such preparation is most effective when the outside world is not held at bay. This same principle holds true as we create a Global Network University that is both “in and of the city” and “in and of the world.”

Our locations beyond the main portal campus in New York City include NYU Abu Dhabi, TischAsia in Singapore, NYU Law in Singapore, and 10 academic sites in Accra, Ghana; Berlin, Germany, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Florence, Italy; London, England; Madrid, Spain; Paris, France; Prague, the Czech Republic; Shanghai, China; and Tel Aviv, Israel.

One-third of NYU students--a number that increases every year--take advantage of the NYU Study Abroad opportunities.  The global academic experience is a fully immersing experience.  Students become a part of these international communities, seizing opportunities for community service, involvement, socialization and exposure to culture.  Academically, coursework is just as engaging as on the Washington Square campus, but with the added benefit of a cosmopolitan environment and fresh way of looking at issues and facts.  Some of the most noted scholars and professionals in the world teach courses at our global academic centers.  The diversity of locations that comprise NYU's Global Network University afford University students the opportunity to truly become citizens that are in and of the world.
