Getting involved as a new student at NYU is an important part of your adjustment to NYU and NYC. Fortunately, there are dozens of ways to get involved at NYU – in fact, there are so many involvement opportunities, they can sometimes be overwhelming! If you ask any student, getting involved helps you to feel more connected at NYU and assists in experiencing a greater sense of community at the University. We encourage you to explore the links to the right on this page to learn more about all the opportunities available at NYU. There are a multitude of ways to get involved at NYU, specifically with transfer, visiting and transitioning student events and programs.
Starting Fall 2015 Transfer students will automatically be CONNECTED with programs specifically for Transfer and Transitioning students! The CONNECT program will host a variety of events in collaboration with various NYU departments ranging from career services events to club and activities involvement at NYU. You will be invited to these events via email throughout the semester.
Whether you're transferring to NYU from a community college, university, returning to NYU after studying abroad during your first semester or visiting, you can sign up to be be in a cohort of fellow Transfer and Transitioning students each who are matched with a Transfer Ambassador (TA). TAs are student leaders who plan fun events and programs such as meet-ups, dinners, movie nights and museum visits! Your TA is matched with you based on shared NYU school, major or similar interests.

TA's are student leaders who successfully transferred and transitioned to NYU. TAs assist the Student Resource Center with providing fun and interactive programming for new and returning transfer students. Applications for TA are open each spring semester in February. It's a great way to engage with fellow transfer students, lead events, build relationships, develop skill sets and have fun! TAs are trained to provide support, resources, and advisement to transfer and transitioning students who are in the process of acclimating to NYU and New York City. From checking out events and tours around NYC, to information sessions about studying abroad and career services, you'll want to make time to attend their events throughout the year. Your TA's are also here to answer any questions you have about NYU! Applications to apply for the Transfer Ambassador student leadership position open in March.
The Transfer Student Association (TSA) is a student-run organization that, in affiliation with the Student Resource Center (SRC) works to enhance student life for transfer and visiting students at NYU. TSA is open to all transfer and transitioning students who want to get involved with Transfer & Transitioning Student Programs at NYU. TSA provides transfer and transitioning students with opportunities to meet and socialize, promote campus resources and promote transfer student advocacy to enhance students’ NYU experience. Past events have included Transfer Recognition Day, Transfer Day of Service and the Transition 101 Series.. Elections for TSA Executive Board positions occur each spring. The easiest way to stay informed about happenings at NYU. In addition to programs and events of interest to transfer students, it's also a great way to stay informed about important news, resources, and opportunities campus-wide and around New York City. The Pathways program brings together new transfer students that are commuter or off-campus students to engage in experiential learning outside the classroom. The program has themed learning communities that allow you to discover different topics with an NYU Faculty Member and Transfer Ambassador as your guide. The program combines formal teaching, informal learning, creative activities, and personal support to bring students together to build a shared community while delving into all that New York City has to offer.
