Spring in New York Important Dates

These important dates are intended for visiting students at NYU admitted through the Office of University Programs. If you are a current NYU student in a degree or diploma program, you should refer to the policies and procedures of your school or speak with your academic advisor.

Adding a Course Late

Full Semester Course:
Instructor approval must be obtained to enroll after the second calendar week of the semester.

6-7 Week Course:
Instructor approval must be obtained to enroll after the first calendar week of the semester.

Pass/Fail Declarations

Pass/fail declarations must be made by the end of the fifth calendar week.

Withdrawal Schedule (Withdrawal schedules can be found on the University Registrar's Academic Calendar.)

Full Semester Course:
A grade of “W” will be issued beginning the first calendar day of the start of the 4th week of classes.

6-7 Week Course:
A grade of “W” will be issued beginning the fourth calendar day of the semester.

Tuition Refund Schedule (Refund schedules can be found at the Office of the Bursar website.)

If withdrawing from some (but not ALL) courses:
Courses dropped during the first two calendar weeks of the semester: 100% tuition and fees
Courses dropped after the first two weeks of the semester: NO REFUND

If withdrawing from ALL courses:
Through the official first day of the semester: 100% tuition and fees
After the first official day of the semester through the first calendar week of classes: 100% tuition only
Second calendar week of classes: 70% tuition only
Third calendar week of classes: 55% tuition only
Fourth calendar week of classes: 25% tuition only
After the fourth calendar week of classes: NO REFUND
