International Spouses and Partners English Program (ISEP)

ISEP, sponsored jointly by the OGS and NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, provides non-credit English instruction for the spouses and partners of NYU’s international students and scholars. The classes, taught by graduate students from Steinhardt, focus on conversational English and American culture, and are offered in 12-week sessions during the fall and spring semesters. The cost is $99 per semester.    

Spring 2021 Information:

Due to COVID-19 classes will take place remotely online via zoom sessions. Classes will begin the week of February 16th, 2021, will run for 12 sessions, and be 1.5 hours each week.  Classes will take place at EST, EST is defined as an abbreviation for Eastern Standard Time. An example of EST is what someone refers to when speaking about time in New York City.

Class Schedule:

Tuesdays - 4:15pm - 5:45pm - Eastern Time/ET

Wednesdays - 12:00pm - 1:30pm - Eastern Time/ET

Thursdays - 9:00am - 10:30am - Eastern Time/ET

International Spouses and Partners Group (ISG)

ISG allows spouses and partners of NYU’s international students and scholars to meet informally to share common interests and concerns as well as explore NYC together! Children are welcome to attend the meetings, but must be supervised. ISG generally meets at the same time and place, but usually has excursions around the city (to cafes, museums, walking tours, ferry rides, etc.

English Language Institute

The English Language Institute (ELI) at the School of Professional Studies offers 12-week, 6-week, and 3-week English language courses taught by expert faculty. Courses help students develop the language skills they need to communicate effectively in academic, professional, and social settings. Daytime, evening, and Saturday courses are available at 10 levels of proficiency, from absolute beginner to high-advanced. You can also take their free English-language proficiency test and get course recommendations from a faculty advisor.
