The Academic Resource Center (ARC) houses academic advising services dedicated specifically to helping visiting students register for courses and navigate their academic experience at NYU.
Admitted students can contact the academic advisor for visiting students by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have questions about applying as a visiting student or about the application process, students should contact the Office of University Programs directly via email at email@example.com or by phone at 212-998-2292.
Course Enrollment Requests
You may add or drop courses through the ADD/DROP period of the term in which you're participating.
If you have been admitted as a visiting student and you are unable to register into a course for any reason, you must submit an Enrollment Request Form. Please note that in order to complete the form, you must have already activated your NYU NetID and be logged into your NYU email account.
You cannot access and submit this form if you have not yet been admitted. If you are interested in applying, please visit the Office of University Programs' Visiting Student website.
Students visiting NYU for any term should be able to register themselves for any courses that do not have prerequisites or restrictions listed in the Albert Course Search. If you are having trouble navigating Albert, you are strongly encouraged to watch the "How To" Video on Albert and review the Albert training guides.
Academic FAQs for Visiting Students
If you are seeking to earn credit at NYU to transfer back to your home institution or towards a future program, it is up to your home or future institution to determine whether they will accept the credits you earn at NYU. The Office of University Programs does not guarantee that credits earned will be transferrable. You can request enrollment verification and a transcript from NYU by visiting the Office of the University Registrar's website.
If you need to obtain syllabi prior to the start of the semester, you should contact the department that is offering the course(s) you are enrolled in/are planning to enroll in.
Book lists for courses can be found via the NYU Bookstores website. Note that you may not find book lists for all of your courses. Some professors do not utilize text books or may not provide a book list until the first day of class.
