Registering for classes is the first step in becoming a full-fledged NYU student. Registration procedures, dates, and hours vary from school to school within the University. You can obtain instructions and the appropriate schedule from your advisement or departmental office. Check your school bulletin and the NYU Directory of Classes for detailed advisement and registration information. Housing over 11,000 students year-round in 23 residence halls, the Department of University Housing is responsible for the overall administration and operation of the residence halls. The department works in coordination with many other University offices to provide and maintain comfortable, safe, and secure living environments.

To meet the needs of students’ busy schedules, NYU Campus Dining Services offers 10 flexible meal plans (including two kosher meal plans), more than a dozen convenient and affordable dining locations (with different hours of service from 7am to midnight), healthy choices, national brands, and many student programs.

Information Technology Services (ITS) is NYU’s central source for computer, network, telephone, and Internet services. To help students with their course work and research projects, ITS offers technical support, computer labs, telephone and voice mail access, and special resources for advanced students. ITS also provides a variety of services via the campus network NYU-NET, including NYUHome, e-mail, and NYU Blackboard. You can connect to the network in your residence hall using ResNet, via the NYURoam wireless network, at NYUHome stations around campus, using a laptop in Bobst Library, and from your modem-equipped computer at home.
Banks, Money, and Emergency Funds
There are many banks in the NYU area. They vary greatly in the services they offer and in service charges. For a list of banks near NYU, visit the Student Resource Center Web site at www.nyu.edu/src/cityguide or call the Student Resource Center at 212-998-4411.
The Student Resource Center provides no-interest loans of up to $20 to students whose wallet has been lost or stolen. The NYU Department of Public Safety or the student affairs office of an NYU school must refer students to the Student Resource Center for such a loan. It is requested that the loan be repaid within seven days.

Forgot your wallet? Don’t worry - Campus Cash is here! Campus Cash is available to all students taking credit-bearing courses, and all you need is your NYUCard (student identification card). This convenient and easy program allows students to use their NYUCard as a debit card on and around campus.
Campus Cash is accepted at all NYU Bookstores, NYU Student Health Center, Palladium Sweat-n-Shop, NYU Ticket Central, Campus Mail Services, NYU Copy Central, select vending machines on campus, select residence hall laundry machines, photocopiers located in Bobst Library, and all Campus Dining facilities. Accepted at over 95 off-campus vendor sites and within the main campus and residence halls, Campus Cash is the ideal choice for everyone.

Student Lockers
Eight pounds of textbooks is too heavy for anyone to carry. You can rent a locker to ease some of the academic burden. But hurry—they go very fast. Here are the rental locations.
- Bobst Library. Book lockers can be rented for $25 per semester or $65 per year (lasting through mid-August) at the Library Privileges office on the first floor of Bobst Library. Call 212-998-2607 for more information.
- Brown Building/Silver Center. Priority is given to CAS science students. Lockers generally become available to everyone in mid-September for $10 per year ($5 thereafter with the lock), lasting through May. Visit the Brown Building, Room 565, or call 212-998-8481.
- Coles Sports Center. Free lockers are available on a daily-use basis; otherwise, rental rates are $15 per semester for a small locker and $25 per semester for a large locker. Large lockers must be rented for at least two semesters, lasting through May. Call 212-998-2045.
- Gallatin. The lockers are on the fifth floor of Gallatin (715 Broadway) and are for Gallatin students only. Call 212-998-9165.
- Kimmel Center for University Life. Lockers are located on the third floor; priority is given to commuter students. Rental rates are $10 per semester or $15 for the academic year. Please visit the Student Resource Center in Kimmel 210 or call 212-998-4411.
- Palladium Sports Facility. Free lockers are available on a daily-use basis; otherwise, the rental rate is $35 per semester. Visit the Palladium Membership Office in the lower level of Palladium (140 East 14th Street). For more information, call 212-992-8510.
- Stern School of Business, Tisch Hall. Lockers are available free of charge for the year for Stern students at the beginning of the fall semester.
