"NYU WELCOMES YOU"

If you are a resident student, by now you should have received information from the Department of Housing with your residence hall and room assignment, roommate(s) name and contact info, advice about what to bring/not to bring, and directions for check-in. The packet will also detail a specific time to arrive on Sunday, August 24 (between 7am-6:30pm). All first-year students should plan to see their Resident Assistant to find out about the day's many "NYU Welcomes You" activities - including free food, an information fair, performances, shuttle buses to Kmart and Bed, Bath & Beyond, and much more! If you haven't received this information by now, please email housing@nyu.edu. If you are a commuter student, don't miss the Commuter Student Welcome on Monday, August 25!

WELCOME WEEK (August 24-29): A GREAT WAY TO START YOUR NYU EXPERIENCE!

Get involved early, start learning the ropes, and have fun doing it! This traditional kickoff for new students offers over 250 activities, workshops, and tours filled with practical advice on navigating NYU and NYC, and lots of opportunities to meet fellow students. Highlights include the Presidential Welcome and The Reality Show: NYU on Monday afternoon, NYU Portraits on Friday morning, as well as the Beach Ball, Going Green workshops, and programs specifically for commuters and transfers. Not sure about where to go or whom to call? The Student Resource Center specializes in answering questions and providing information about NYU and NYC. From directions and connections to NYU services, to campus-wide events and specialized resources, we're the ultimate source of information at NYU for students. Stop by for a visit when you're in the Kimmel Center for University Life (Suite 210), or check us out on the web. The SRC is also a great place for commuter, transfer, and graduate students looking to get connected to NYU. Go ahead, ask us!

NYU WELLNESS EXCHANGE - FEEL YOUR BEST, DO YOUR BEST

The Wellness Exchange is NYU's extensive network of health and mental health resources. It's available to help you address ANY health-related issue that may be affecting you or a friend, and it's EASY to use via telephone, email, appointment, or walk-in hours. A private, 24/7 hotline (212-443-9999) will put you in touch with professional help - remember, the number is on the back of your NYU ID card. A complete list of services and contact information is just a click away. Bookmark this website and don't hesitate to use it.

CENTER FOR MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION AND PROGRAMS

The Center for Multicultural Education and Programs collaborates with schools, departments, and offices throughout NYU to create an inclusive and welcoming campus environment for all students. The Center's goals are accomplished through support and commitment to underrepresented groups and by bringing innovative educational and cultural opportunities to the entire NYU community. FIND YOUR NYU COMMUNITY

You know by now that getting involved outside of the classroom is an important way to build new skills and make friends. NYU offers a host of options for students to contribute to campus life by following their passions and interests. If you're a residential student, start by joining your Hall Council; commuters, ask about getting involved with the Commuter Circle or the Off-Campus Student Council. And be sure to take advantage of the workshops offered in the Welcome Week series: Getting Involved: Finding Your NYU at Welcome Week. Here's a listing to get you started!
