Annual Review Process
Goals: At the end of each year, departments will have measurable evidence of the work they do. Annual Report outcomes will focus on two areas. The first will be based on department learning and should focus on an area they hope to improve, enhance or make a data-informed decision about changing. The second should focus on a consistent metric that the department will measure each year so that long-term metrics are collected and comparisons can be made over time. Divisionally, Annual Review will be reported to ULT and other settings in an effort to better educate others on the goals of student affairs.
General Description: Each Department in the Division of Student Affairs will be required to determine and measure 2-4 outcomes (operational or learning) that will serve as a measurement for the quality of programs and services.
Procedure/Timeline:
- Departments identify 1-2 people to lead the Annual Report process through the year. In addition to an interest in identifying/measuring outcomes; these individuals should also have an interest in learning about assessment and will be a member of the Assessment Team.
- First A-Team meeting will consist of learning about the assessment process, the goals of the Annual Review as well as how to develop outcomes. Each member will be asked to return to their department and determine their outcomes.
- The A-team will then meet 6 times per semester (calendar to be determined). They will be taken through the assessment process step by step and gain the skills they need to lead the Annual Review initiative for their department. Skills that they will learn consist of: writing measurable outcomes; selecting methods; developing instruments; using a variety of methods such as surveys, focus groups, visual methods, observations, rubrics, and more; incorporating technology into assessment; analyzing quantitative and qualitative data; determining implications; writing assessment reports; and using results.
- A-Team members will lead the Annual Report process throughout the year. A full report will be completed by June.
- New Annual Report process begins again in August.
