Holiday Celebrations!

Check out these wonderful celebrations to enjoy some holiday cheer!

Lighting of the Worlds Largest Hannukah Menorah

Sunday December 21st, 2008 at 5 pm | Free

The Rockefeller Center tree has nothing on the world's largest Hanukkah menorah. Nightly lighting cermonies will be accompanied by folk dancing and sufganiyot (holiday jelly donuts). Grand Lighting Ceremony is Sunday, December 21st; The celebration continutes at the same time each night of Hanukkah. Located at Grand Army Plaza in Mnhattan, Fifth Avenue at 59th Street.

Kwanzaa Celebration at the American Museum of Natural History

Sunday, December 28th, 2008 from 12 noon to 5 pm | FREE with cost of museum admission

Kwanzaa Fest 2008! is an all-day festival honoring the seven African-based principles of Kwanzaa with an international marketplace and performances of song, dance, and the spoken word.

New Years in Times Square: The biggest celebration in the country!

Be prepared to arrive early, be barricaded into sections, and be unable to eat or go to the bathroom. Also, do not bring bags or purses. The level of security, however, matches the level of fun! For more information, check out www.timessquarenyc.org.


New York Road Runners New Year's Eve Run | Monday, December 31st at 10 pm

Race at midnight. Fireworks, dancing, costume concert, and a 4-mile run into the New Year. Runners must register in advance. See www.nyrr.org for details.


Coney Island Polar Bear Club New Year's Swim | Tuesday, January 1st at 1 pm.
