I Love a Parade

Summer is the season to take to the streets for festivals and parades. Don't forget your sunblock!

National Puerto Rican Day Parade Sunday, June 8, 11:00 am

The Coney Island Mermaid Parade Saturday, June 21, 2 pm
Revelers celebrate the spirit of Coney Island by processing from the boardwalk to the beach in elaborate maritime costumes. One of New York's most beloved and unique events! Travels down Surf Avenue, Brooklyn.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride March Sunday, June 29, 12 pm
Everyone from lgbt firefighters to flamingly fabulous drag performers turn out to march 5th Avenue and 52nd Street to Christopher and Greenwich Streets. Other events including dances and street fairs throughout the week. www.nycpride.org
Travis Fourth of July Parade Friday, July 4th, 12 pm If you're nostalgic for a small-town Independence Day wrapped in plenty of red, white, and blue bunting, catch this Staten Island tradition which organizers claim has barely changed since 1911. www.travisparade.org
West Indian American Day Carnaval and Brooklyn Labor Day Parade Monday, September 1st
The city's largest parade and festival, drawing an estimated 2 million visitors. Enjoy the floats, food, music, performances, and a weekend of events including a competition for Carnaval King and Queen and a 2 am march known as J'ouvert. www.wiadca.com
