ADVISEMENT
and REGISTRATION
Academic advisement begins and
is centered in a student’s school.
The process - including the types of advisement offered, when, by whom, and how
different types of advisors and advisement work together - is organized by each
school in a way that matches its curricular offerings and student’s needs.
All, however, provide an open-ended, ongoing process that begins during orientation
and continues throughout a student’s undergraduate career. Because students'
needs differ and change, academic advising at NYU is multi-layered and available
through multiple access points. During October and November, students will begin
meeting with their advisor to prepare for Spring registration. To help your
student prepare for advisement . . .
NYUWinter
SESSION 2010: January 4-16, 2010
Intercession courses provide students opportunities to earn academic credit (major,
minor, or elective) in courses that are in high demand, to accelerate degree
completion and to concentrate on personal interests. For course offerings, and
other information during the January Winter Session, go to www.nyu.edu/winter.
FREE
SEASONAL FLU SHOTS for Students
The Student
Health Center is still offering NYU students free
seasonal flu shots through the end of October. Locations,
dates, and times are available here.
Note that the Student Health Center anticipates receiving
the H1N1 vaccine within the next several weeks as the
New York City Department of Health begins distributing
the vaccine. To stay connected to the latest updates,
visit www.nyu.edu/flu.
THANKSGIVING
BREAK
As NYU has become
a more global university, traveling for the holidays is not always
possible for all students. NYU residence halls remain open throughout
university breaks and holidays, although some services like dining
and campus transportation may be limited or unavailable. If your
student is staying around during the break, the Student Resource
Center's "Thanksgiving
Break Guide" will be available beginning
November 18, 2009, for great resources and information on NYC and
NYU during the break.
