Summer is a great time to explore NYC and surrounding areas! Each week, we'll update you on great happenings around NYU and NYC:

Films on the Green: War of the Buttons

Bryant Park Summer Film Festival: Psycho
Monday, June 18th, Lawn opens at 5:00pm | Bryant Park Lawn
Catch the first film of the summer! The festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary by highlighting some of their favorite films from the last twenty years.

Advanced Screening and Discussion: Collaborator
Monday, June 18th at 7:00pm | IFC Center, 323 Sixth Avenue, at West 3rd Street
See this special sneak preview, with post-film discussion with director Martin Donovan, producer Ted Hope, and star David Morse.

Toyota Concert Series: Justin Bieber
Friday, June 8th | Rockefeller Plaza
Justin Bieber will sing live on the TODAY show as part of their Toyota Concert Series.

SummerStage: Paige in Full
Friday, June 15th from 8:00pm to 10:00pm | Herbert Von King Park, Lafayette Ave & Mercy Ave, Brooklyn
This unique coming of age story, Paige Hernandez's debut theater work, speaks to a dynamic, hip-hop-influenced generation. The production is free and open to the public.

Orpheus Chamber Orchestra
Tuesday, June 19th at 7:30pm | Naumburg Bandshell, Central Park, south of the 72nd Street cross-drive
The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra will open the annual Naumburg Orchestral Concert Series, which has been presenting free outdoor classical concerts since 1905.

Shakespeare in the Park: As You Like It
June 5th through 30th | Delacorte Theater, Central Park, enter from 81st Street and Central Park West or 79th Street and Fifth Avenue
Tickets are FREE and are distributed, two per person, at the Delacorte Theater at 1:00pm the day of the show, or online the day of the show through the Virtual Ticketing lottery.

Good Morning America Summer Concert Series
Fridays throughout the summer from 7:00am to 9:00am | Central Park Rumsey Playfield
GMA's Summer Concert Series, sponsored by Pepsi Co., returns for the fourth year to the Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, where music's biggest names will perform live every Friday. Performances are free and open to the public. Note: Viewers interested in joining GMA for the concerts should arrive at Rumsey Playfield via the 72nd street Central Park entrance on Fifth Avenue at 6:00am when the park opens to the public. The line-up includes:
June 15: Beach Boys
June 29: LMFAO

Kids Yoga
Thursday, June 14th from 10:00am to 11:00am | Washington Square Park
Meet at the entrance to the large playground. All ages welcome. Bring your own mat.

Hoops to Halo: Centuries of Games Kids Play
Sunday, June 17th from 2:30pm to 4:30pm | New York Historical Society, 170 Central Park West
Celebrate Father's Day with a special family workshop all about games - parents and kids learn about historical games and build their own video game prototypes.

Fish Parade and Summer Festival
Saturday, June 16th from 11:00am to 5:00pm | Hunts Point Riverside Park, Barretto Point Park, Bronx
This shindig celebrates the waterfront neighborhood with a procession of colorful costumes, floats and artistry. After the parade, join the festivities, which include Native American drum circles and dance.

Sports and Fitness

Pre-Father's Day Softball Game and BBQ
Thursday, June 14th from 12:00pm to 3:00pm | Tony Dapolito Recreation Center, 1 Clarkson Street
Recreation center youth and parents will participate in a pre-Father's Day Softball game. Volunteer coaches will be on hand to grill and serve BBQ to players and spectators. The public is invited to view the game and participate in the day's activities.

Manhattan Fitness Festival
Saturday, June 16th from 11:00am to 2:00pm | Damrosch Park, Lincoln Center
This event showcases a range of fitness activities regularly available at Recreation Centers including Zumba, Afro Brazilian Dance, and hula hoop fitness.

Kayaking on the Hudson
Saturday, June 16th and Sunday, June 17th from 10:00am to 5:00pm | 72nd Street and Hudson River, Riverside Park, Manhattan
Join the downtown boathouse for free 20-minute instructional paddles, and explore the Hudson River first-hand. No registration required.

Exhibits, Classes, and Lectures

Poetry from the Rooftops
Thursday, June 14th at 6:30pm | Central Park Arsenal Building, 64th Street at 5th Avenue
This outdoor summer poetry reading series is helf on the newly renovated rooftop of the Arsenal Building in Central Park.

Free Guided Walking Tours of the High Line
Every Tuesday at 6:30pm | 14th Street Passage on the High Line at West 14th Street
Enjoy a guided tour of the High Line this summer! Space is limited, so arrive early to guarantee a spot!

Beastie Boys Photo Exhibit
Now through June 21st | Ivy Brown Gallery, 675 Hudson Street #4N
This photography exhibit featires rare images of the Beasty Boys.

Cloud City
Now through November 4th | Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 5th Avenue
This summer, the rooftop of the Met will feature a cutting edge exhibit from artist Tomás Saraceno.

Parades, Fairs and Festivals

Northside Festival
Thursday, June 14th through Thursday, June 21st | Madison Square Park
Hundreds of bands, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, innovators, and over 80,000 fans converge on Brooklyn over eight days to witness the most incredible showcase of "what's next" in music, film, entrepreneurship, and art.

Jazz Age Lawn Party
Saturday, June 16th and Sunday, June 17th from 11:00am to 5:00pm | Governors Island
Dress up in your finest Gatsby-inspired duds for this 1920s-themed shindig, which features old-timey dance lessons, a classic-car show, a vintage swimsuit contest and more. Tickets are $15 (children under 12 are free).

Bang on a Can Marathon
Sunday, June 17th from 12:00pm to midnight | World Financial Center Winter Garden, 220 Vesey Street
This annual event is a collision of new musical styles and ideas.
