Commuter & Off-Campus Student Services H1N1 Flu: NYU Health Center Updates With the start of the fall semester, the return of students to classrooms and residence halls, and the likelihood of an increasing number of cases of H1N1 influenza during the months ahead, we want to reassure the NYU community that plans have been developed and implemented to decrease the impact of any H1N1 outbreak. Money Management Workshops Check out the SRC Money Management website to see a variety of resources designed to arm you with strategies to become more knowledgeable consumers, wise savers, responsible users of credit, and careful decision makers. Various money management workshops will be offered throughout the year. Learn more here. Commuter Assistant Commuter Assistants are knowledgeable upperclass students who serve as a source of support for new undergraduate commuters. Students can contact CAs with questions about everything from getting involved on campus to managing time. Each new freshman and transfer student is assigned a Commuter Assistant – any new undergraduate student who doesn’t know his/her commuter assistant can contact Commuter & Off-Campus Student Services for that information. Commuter Circle Commuter Circle is a student-run programming board for The Off-Campus Student Council, and in conjunction with Commuter & Off-Campus Student Services, is dedicated to enhancing student life for NYU commuters by providing opportunities for students to meet and socialize, to get involved in campus life and make the most of their NYU experience. Commuter Circle sponsors a weekly lunch series, publishes the Commuter Circular newsletter, and plans events througout the year. Off-Campus Student Council The Off-Campus Student Council, or OCSC, is the voice of off-campus students. As the primary advocates for off-campus students, the OCSC expresses the concerns and needs of off-campus students to the university. The OCSC is composed of an executive board and elected representatives, but all off-campus students are welcome to attend meetings. If you want to make your voice heard, get involved with the OCSC!

This week's lunch is sponsored by the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs, Tom Ellett. H1N1 Expert Panel Discussion Tuesday, November 3rd 5-6:30pm Room 914, 9th flr. Kimmel Center All NYU students are welcome to hear an expert panel discuss everything you want to (or don't want to) know about H1N1 influenza. Why did H1N1 appear? What are the key symptoms? What are NYU's strategies to contain and mitigate the impact of flu? Cosponosred by NYU Student Health Center, Student Senator Council and the Student Health Advisory Board of the SSC. Off-Campus Student Council Assembly Meeting Wednesday, November 4, 5pm Kimmel Center Commuter Lounge 2nd Fl Want to get involved in extracurricular activites, participate in community service and take action for commuter advocacy? Commuters let your voice be heard! Attend the Off-Campus Student Council general meeting. OCSC meets bi-weekly on Wednesdays in the Commuter Lounge. Join OCSC on Facebook! Check out our Blog! College Learning Center Commuter Tutoring Session Thursday, November 5, 1-2pm Kimmel Center Commuter Lounge 2nd Fl Have questions about your classes? The College Learning Center offers tutoring to support you with your academics in the Commuter Lounge. Every Thursday at 1pm stop by the commuter lounge to meet with a tutor. Come prepared with notes and or lecture materials. Snacks will be served. First come first serve. Commuter Escape! Pintura: Commuter Murals Thursday, November 5, 5-7pm Kimmel Center Commuter Lounge 2nd Fl ESCAPE FROM NYU ACADEMIA and take a breather with Commuter Circle and the Pintura Club. Poetry Slam/ Open Mic Thursday, November 12, 5-7pm Kimmel Center Commuter Lounge 2nd Fl As part of the Commuter Escape join us for a CommUnity Fundraiser featuring Bonafide Rojas: artist, author, musician, of The Mona Passage. Commuters show your poetry style by signing up to perform for our Commuter Escape. All poets, spoken word, and open mic performers are invited. Refreshments will be served. Veteran's Day Celebration Wednesday, November 11th The Student Resource Center and Veterans Alliance welcome you to join together for this day of celebration. Click here for details. NJ Transit offers full-time students a 25% discount for bus, rail, or light rail monthly passes. This is an auto-subscription program, each month you will get a new pass unless you cancel or suspend your account. There is a $3 processing fee each month for the program. Students must sign up by the 10th of the month to receive a pass for the following month. If you are interested in signing up, go to www.home.nyu.edu and click Enroll under the NYU Life Tab.
