The Spring 2011 Service Fair provides an opportunity for students to meet face to face with the thirty plus NYU Civic Team partner community service agencies serving at risk youth, underserved communities, senior citizens, homebound elderly, homeless New Yorkers, and people with HIV/AIDS. Student may sign up for volunteer positions as part of the fair and become members of the ever growing NYU Civic Team. Service opportunities focus on education, social welfare services, HIV/AIDS, public health, and environmental issues to name a few. Come and learn what to do, what not to do, the cheapest way to ride, and how to make yourself the safest possible rider when you use New York City buses, subways, and trains. Recent changes to bus and subway lines that serve Washington Square will be highlighted. Also learn how to benefit from NYU’s Campus Transportation Service trolleys, buses, and vans, and how to ride FREE by just showing your NYUCard!

The Reality Show: NYU is a gritty, funny musical about the lives of NYU students as they experience an array of confounding, confusing, and exciting issues. Written, performed, and produced by NYU students, and directed by Tisch School of the Arts professor Elizabeth Swados. Free tickets can be picked up on the day of the event, with an NYU ID, between 12 pm and 7:45 pm at the Skirball box office.

On February 10th, 1961 Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. met with members of the NYU community during a three-hour visit. After lunch with student leaders and meeting campus officials, Dr. King delivered a speech entitled, “The Future of Integration.” This year we will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s visit to our Campus with special events and programs: Take Action, Calling all Orators, Build a coalition, Tell us who is making a Difference, Give Back, and Show your Unity.
