Dedicated to service-minded first-year and transfer students, OutReach is a three-day orientation to community service at New York University. It introduces new undergraduate students to New York City's extensive and diverse community service scene in small groups led by upper-class student leaders. The program is held immediately prior to Welcome Week and consists of three one-day community service projects, which vary from delivering hot meals in the West Village to cleaning and painting a city park.
OutReach will assist students in their transition into college and help incoming students develop new, lasting friendships based on similar service interests. OutReach also prepares new students for immediate involvement in community and university leadership. Through service, OutReach participants will discover the great individual and collective impact they can have on their new community, assist in making friends, developing leadership skills, and exploring their exciting new environment.
