Greetings! My name is Paulina Abaunza, and I am the Coordinator of Commuter Student Services. I oversee social and educational programs and services specifically designed for commuters at NYU. These programs range from Commuter Preview Day and the Commuter Assistant Program, to our Faculty In & Of the City program that connects students with faculty members in their boroughs. I am also very committed to my role as the advisor to the Off Campus Student Council. I have spent the last six years gradually moving towards the east coast and love New York, but home will always be where my family is in El Paso, Texas. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from The George Washington University in 2006, and I hold a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from New York University. I came to NYU in 2006 and had a wonderful experience working as the Graduate Assistant in the Office of LGBT Student Services. The best part of my time here at NYU has been interacting with amazingly talented students who teach me something new every day. My interests within higher education include diversity and social justice, religion and spirituality, the first-year student experience, and student leadership. Outside of the realm of higher education, I enjoy film, reading novels, politics, and I absolutely love live theatre. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions about the commuter community at NYU, and I look forward to a great year! |
