Kimmel Center Room 802
Commuter Student Council invites you to the powerful film screening of Precious Knowledge, a documentary about the the ban on ethnic studies in Arizona schools - and more generally the anti-immigrant atmosphere in the United States. When a highly successful Mexican American Studies program at a high school in Tucson comes under fire for teaching ethnic chauvinism, teachers and students fight back. This modern civil rights struggle is happening at the epicenter of the immigration debate in the age of identity politics. There will be a discussion to follow the screening. Refreshments will be served. Cosponsored by CMEP, HSF@NYU, LUCHA, the Student Resource Center, Comm*Unity and the Commuter Student Council.
