Commuter Student Services at the Student Resource Center sponsors events throughout the year for all NYU commuter students. We kick off the year with Welcome Week, and then plan an ongoing calendar of socials, outings, and workshops. The major events listed here are only a few of the programs for commuters. commuter preview day
Commuter Preview Day is a special orientation just for new commuter students on Wednesday, August 5, 2009. This is your chance to learn more about services and organizations for commuter students including the Off-Campus Student Council, the Commuter Circle, and the Commuter Assistant progam. You will also meet other new commuter students and go on a special tour of NYU made just for commuters. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Look for more information to be mailed during the summer. commuter welcome
The first commuter event of each academic year is our annual Commuter Welcome, on the first day of Welcome Week. All new commuter students are invited to meet the Commuter Student Services staff and student leaders, get to know other new students, and learn about important commuter resources.
commuter lunch series
Sponsored by the Commuter Circle student organization which is the programming board of the Off-Campus Student Council (OCSC), the weekly Commuter Lunch series occurs every Tuesday at 12:30pm. Lunches throughout the year feature guest speakers from NYU offices.
commuter confidentials
A moderated bi-weekly discussion group where commuter students can safely discuss personal identity, relationships and other life issues. This also serves as a space for commuters to meet other commuters and share their experiences. New attendees are always welcome! Refreshments provided. Questions? breakfast for dinner
At the end of each semester, Commuter Student Services sponsors an evening of pancakes, bacon, and OJ, and commuter students are invited to take a break from studying and eat Breakfast for Dinner (for free)!
finals week lodging
During finals week in the fall and spring, Commuter Student Services offers inexpensive lodging near campus, in order to facilitate travel to and from late studying on campus and early morning tests. Accommodations are available for students who have exams or projects the following day.
commuter appreciation week
Commuter Appreciation Week is a week of events recognizing commuter students during the spring semester. Past events have inlcuded Spa Day, Commuter Carnival, the Torch Event and Commuter Appreciation Luncheon. Check the Commuter Student Services calendar for more information.
