Square Park Policies
Washington
Square Park, one of the most visited urban parks in the world,
sits at the heart of Greenwich Village and the NYU campus. This
historic public commons is a wonderful place to escape the city
and relax in the shade on a hot summer day. Please be aware that
the New York City Police and Park Rangers are issuing summons
and making arrests for violations in Washington Square Park including:
riding bikes or skateboards, unreasonable noise making, vandalism,
littering, unleashed
dogs, climbing trees, disregarding police and ranger instructions,
possession of illegal drugs including marijuana, and consumption
of alcohol including bottles or cans in paper bags. Also, NYPD
monitored cameras are positioned around the perimeter of the park.
