It has a current budget of $16 million, roughly half of which is contributed by the City of New York.
NYC & Company provides information and assistance with all services and facilities relating to the tourism and convention industries to meeting planners, tour operators, travel agents, individual visitors, and the worldwide news media. NYC & Company acts as a liaison for tourism and convention industry customers to member hotels, restaurants, attractions, venues, and service providers—providing such services as familiarization tours, site inspections, promotional materials, and housing services.

Yelp is also an important resource to the NYC community, offering reviews from real people, including many broke students in the area, on anything from where to find a cheap eat to where to find a good Dry Cleaner. The info is constantly being updated so it's the most current source of consumer reviews for your area.
