Dear Graduating/Recently Graduated Student:
On behalf of the faculty, administrators, and staff of the NYU School of Social Work, we congratulate you as a member of the Class of 2008. The School has planned a Convocation in your honor on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, which we hope you will attend. All graduates are guaranteed four guest tickets for the ceremony, and all tickets must be requested by submitting the graduation ticket request form by Friday, March 28, 2007.
Please carefully review and complete the graduation ticket request form. This form contains essential information about the lottery for an additional guest ticket, as well as disability accommodations (which should be noted on the form and submitted via e-mail as soon as possible to Jeff McDonnell so that arrangements for the venue can be made in advance). It is important that you submit the form by the March 28th deadline, as ticket requests received after the deadline will be subject to ticket availability and are not guaranteed.
The guest ticket distribution schedule will be announced by late March via e-mail to those who have submitted the graduation ticket request form as specified. The schedule will also be posted on School bulletin boards and on our Web site. Additional information about graduation—including instructions for ordering academic attire*—is available on our website for the School Commencement and the main NYU website for the All-University Commencement . Questions about the School’s Convocation that cannot be answered by the information provided on these web sites may be directed to (212) 998-5926.
Please note in order to participate in the May graduation ceremonies, students must be in line to complete their degree requirements by May 2008. If a student has six or fewer credits outstanding as of June 2008, the student is eligible to apply for a Dean’s exception to participate in the SSSW Convocation and the University Commencement ceremonies. To apply, please contact the School’s Registration Office (1 Washington Square North, Room G07) or download the form online.
We look forward to celebrating your accomplishments with you, your family, and friends at Convocation.
With all best wishes,
Courtney R. O’Mealley
Director of Student and Alumni Affairs
*Academic attire is required for graduates participating in Convocation and/or University Commencement.
