Esther Chachkes DSW

bio

Professor Chachkes is currently the Director of Social Work and Therapeutic Recreation at the NYU Hospitals Center. She led the task force to implement a Palliative Care program at the hospital and is currently the chair of the task force to implement an integrative medicine program. She is also a member of the Medical Ethics Committee of the Medical Board. Over the past twenty-five years, she has held leadership positions in numerous organizations, including NASW, GMHC and the Society for Social Work Administrators in Health Care. She is a Fellow of the NY Academy of Medicine and was recently inducted into the Academy of Women Achievers of the YWCA of the City of New York. In addition to her teaching at the NYU Ehrenkranz School of Social Work, she is faculty at the End-of-Life Care Fellows Program, funded by the Project on Death in America, Soros Foundation as a social work leadership award at both NYU and Smith College School for Social Work.
