Experienced clinicians, researchers, experts in human behavior, policy developers, and administrators from many settings come to teach in our programs. This interdisciplinary faculty brings the School a wide range of knowledge and social work orientations spanning contemporary psychodynamic, psychological, and social theory perspectives and related research. They are experienced practicing professionals in mental health, policy administration, research, child welfare, group work, and independent practice.

Professor Alma Carten Dr. Carten teaches the social welfare policies and human behavior curricula sequences, and has served as chair of the social welfare programs and policies area. Dr. Carten is also a Consultant Reviewer for the Children's Bureau of the Administration for Children and Families (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services), helping to shape the national standards for child welfare outcomes. |

Professor Trudy Festinger Trudy Festinger, professor of research, has conducted a number of large-scale studies in the fields of foster care and child adoption, including a major follow-up study of youth discharged from foster care. Dr. Festinger is on the editorial board of the Journal of Public Child Welfare, and is a member of the advisory board of the N.Y.C. Administration for Children’s Services. |

Professor Tazuko Shibusawa Tazuko Shibusawa teaches in the area of advanced clinical practice. Dr. Shibusawa’s research focuses on aging among vulnerable populations, specifically, intimate partner violence among older couples, HIV-risk among older adults, and psychological well-being of Asian-American elders. She has been involved in developing and evaluating a Web- and video-based learning environment for teaching clinical practice skills at the school. |
