Silver School of Social Work Alumni Awards

The Silver School of Social Work is proud of its more than 12,000 alumni who are working improve the lives of vulnerable individuals, families, and communities. Each Spring, the Silver School of Social Work will recognize the accomplishments of alumni at a special recognition ceremony.

The awards for alumni are:

  • Distinguished Alumna/us Award
  • Outstanding Recent Alumna/Us Award

Nomination Procedure
Nominators may submit all required information and supplemental materials via e- mail by Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Self-nominations are welcome. Please see the information on the nomination form for more detailed information.

Ceremony
Please join us as we honor this year’s award winners at the First Annual Silver School of Social Work Student & Alumni Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 29, 2009.

Distinguished Alumna/us Award

Nominees for the 2009 Distinguished Alumna/us Award must have earned an Undergraduate, Master’s, or Doctoral degree from the SSSW and demonstrate extraordinary professional success and achievement over the span of his/her career in social work. Achievements may include exemplary leadership in an agency or a community; contributions to the field through research and publications; an effective advocate for the social work profession; and/or involvement in professional, civic, or community organizations.

Nomination Procedure:
Nominators may use the online form to submit contact information and the statement of nomination by the deadline, Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Any supporting materials that can help fully depict the nominee’s achievements may be e-mailed to the selection committee at ssw.alumniaffairs@nyu.edu.

Outstanding Recent Alumna/us Award

Nominees for the 2009 Outstanding Recent Alumna/us Award must have earned an Undergraduate, Master’s, or Doctoral degree from the SSSW within the past five years. They must exhibit a strong commitment to social change; leadership in an agency or a community; creativity in non-traditional or innovative approaches to practice; contributions to the field through research and publications; an effective advocate for the social work profession; and/or involvement in professional, civic, or community organizations.

Nomination Procedure:
Nominators may use the online form to submit contact information and the statement of nomination by the deadline, Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Any supporting materials that can help fully depict the nominee’s achievements may be e-mailed to the selection committee at ssw.alumniaffairs@nyu.edu.
