Assistant Professor Darcey Merritt will discuss her research on child maltreatment at the Translational Research on Child Neglect Consortium (TRCNC) annual meeting, to be held on September 20 and 21. This year's meeting will focus on "Research on Child Neglect: Progress over a Decade."
Merritt will be a part of the TRCNC Young Scholars Panel. A 2010 Young Scholar, Merritt received a competitive travel stipend and research career mentoring by one of TRCNC's senior faculty members. She will discuss her experience as a Young Scholar recipient and how it helped shaped her research projects focusing on child neglect and her overall research agenda.
The TRCNC was awarded a 5-year grant to continue the preliminary work by the Federal Child Neglect Research Consortium -- formed in 2000 -- to bring disparate fields together to address child neglect by advancing translational science. The TRCNC has been funded by several federal agencies, including the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Institutes of Health, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
