information for practice - help

mission

To help social service professionals throughout the world conveniently maintain an awareness of news regarding the profession and emerging scholarship.

options

You have multiple options to interact with IP.

  1. Make IP your home page. Follow the home page change procedure for your browser and insert the IP URL: http://www.nyu.edu/socialwork/ip
  2. Visit the IP site anytime you want to see the most current news and new scholarship.
  3. Utilize the RSS or Atom feed at the bottom of each column that you are interested in (e.g., News, Articles, Grey Literature).
  4. Subscribe to the monthly IP digest. You will receive an email notice each month when a new monthly archive is completed and available on the IP web site described below. Using this process allows us to alert you to the new issue without overloading your mailbox.
  5. Some combination of the above. For instance, you can just visit the IP site when you want and review the current news and new scholarship. You can look at the monthly archives to date and/or you can search the site for particular topics.
We are continuing work on the Search procedure even though we have added a number of improvements. As with any information database you should be aware of its limits. IP, for instance, selectively covers recent news and new scholarship. News stories are discarded after one year, articles and grey literature are maintained. Coverage of many journals is also selective. That is in some non-social work journals, we may select only those articles that seem most relevant to our readers.
