Across Africa, for too many aching years, there has been an immense silence about African men and women who yearn for, desire, love and embrace same-sex partners. The silence denied truth, for throughout history same-sex practice has been as prevalent here as anywhere else in the world. The silence wrought injustice, for it was born from repression and fear, and from disrespect for the humanity of those who yearned, desired, loved and embraced.
