The Division of Lifelong Learning and Professional Development (DLLPD) is an integral part of the Silver School of Social Work. We provide an opportunity for graduates of NYU, other schools of social work, as well as health professionals and those in other related fields to continue their learning as they advance in their careers, explore new professional avenues, and gain increased skills to better meet the needs of their agencies and clients. Our array of programs is tailored to meet emerging needs of clients and agencies. Our program offerings are, in large part, based on feedback from agency directors, faculty, and clinicians, including former participants. We provide advanced learning encompassing theoretical and practice models.
Given the compelling rise in the demand for social services, we recognize the need to prepare more leaders for the future. As we reach out to our professional community, we are dedicated to program expansion and constant improvement as we learn from the participants. Our philosophy is to provide programs that are relevant, current, challenging, and accessible.
Greetings from the Dean
Lynn Videka, BSN, AM, PhD

"As social workers we are committed to lifelong learning as a professional responsibility in order to help our clients with the most up-to-date ideas and intervention approaches. At the NYU Silver School of Social Work we take seriously our responsibility to provide continuing education to the social work and human service community. You will find that we offer an array of workshops, conferences, and postgraduate programs, all designed to advance the knowledge and skills of social workers and human service professionals."
About Our Programs and Events
DLLPD offers Post Master's Certificate Programs, Conferences, Seminars and Agency-based training for social work and other behavioral health professionals. Based on the most up-to-date research and evidence-based practice, these programs help professionals advance their knowledge in treatment strategies, improve their approaches to complicated cases, and learn about new policies that influence agency function and practice guidelines. The Division of Lifelong Learning and Professional Development works collaboratively with the community to respond to emerging needs and changes in policies and practice.
About Our Faculty
Highly experienced in research, practice, education, and agency leadership, our faculty offers the most current approaches to assessment treatment, care management, integrated care, and organizational leadership. They provide in-depth insights about working with diverse populations in varied circumstances, while teaching the application of theory to practice.
About Our Students
A recent study revealed that our students seek to advance their knowledge in treatment strategies and improve their approaches to complicated cases. Many recognize that while experience is important, gaining additional knowledge and training is also crucial. Students range in experience from two to fifteen years. Participants include social workers who are in private practice, case managers, therapists in community-based health care agencies, and agency leaders. Related mental health professionals participate in many of the Programs.
