Monday Matters

Although it may seem like a quick fix, using substances to help you study is not the best idea. Lots of coffee or sugar, over-the-counter caffeine tablets - or worse, prescription drugs used at "study aids" - can all tax your system. While they may provide a brief period of intense focus, ultimately they can lead to a complete crash, lasting jitters and/or anxiety. Using someone else's medications, in particular, can be very dangerous as you have no way of knowing how it will affect you. Also, using a medication for a purpose other than what it is intended for may do more harm than good. So instead, when finals come around, use natural study aids - good music, plenty of sleep, the support of friends and family; and if you must - only a few cups of coffee. The payoff, and the grade, will be much higher in the end.

Thought for the week: Study Smart!
