The NYU SHC Pharmacy..."your corner drugstore at NYU."

The SHC Pharmacy is a full-service pharmacy open to the NYU community (students, faculty, and staff) and conveniently located within the Student Health Center. We are staffed by three Registered Pharmacists and three Certified Pharmacy Technicians who are ready to help you with all your healthcare needs.

Our services include pharmaceutical counseling, drug information and education, a wide selection of pharmaceuticals (brand name and generic), vitamins and over-the-counter medications, all at competitive prices. We strive to provide you with best service in town!

Prescriptions can be called into SHC Pharmacy Services by any licensed Provider or Nurse Practitioner or can be presented in person, in written form. You may also call Pharmacy Services to request a refill on a prescription if authorized by your provider.

We accept hundreds of prescription insurance plans for your convenience. If you are enrolled in an NYU-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan, refer to the prescription section of the benefits chart in the Guide to Student Health Insurance.

To make your experience in the pharmacy as easy as possible, here are some helpful hints for your visit:

  • Have your insurance card or copy of it with you for your first visit to the pharmacy so we can enter it into your computer profile.
  • If you are transferring a prescription to NYU from a hometown pharmacy, provide us with the pharmacy name, phone number, and name of the medication you want to transfer. You may also ask your hometown medical provider to call or fax us the prescription information (our fax number is 212-443-1051).
  • Call or secure message your refill requests to the pharmacy. The prescription will be ready when you arrive.
  • There are set limits on your prescription benefit. Know what they are. Ask the pharmacy staff to explain your benefits to you so you can calculate how much your medications will cost and if you are nearing your yearly cap. Many times we can suggest lower-cost alternatives to help reduce your costs.
  • Utilize the pharmacy as a healthcare resource. Ask questions if you are unsure about your medications or any other healthcare concern you have. We can point you in the right direction.
