Enjoying food, making healthy choices, practicing moderation, and putting health as top priority are the foundation of our nutrition services at SHC.
Nutrition Services provides counseling for students with all types of nutritional concerns as well other medically diagnosed conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and anemia.
One-on-One Counseling for:
- Medical conditions (anemia, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, diabetes, IBS, etc.)
- Eating disorders
- Weight control
- Vegetarianism/Veganism

Food Diary: Complete the Food Diary (PDF) - keep track of all food and beverages consumed over a typical week. Be as specific as possible with the types and the amount of food consumed. Also include any physical activity of 20 minutes or longer. |

Nutrition Intake Form: Complete the Eating Habits Questionnaire (PDF), and bring it with you to your first session. |
Fees:
Medically Diagnosed Nutrition Counseling:
The NYU-sponsored Student Health Insurance plan provides 100% coverage for nutrition counseling for any medically diagnosed condition. In this case, students may request a referral from their Primary Care Physician. A $20.00 fee applies for all appointments with our Registered Dietitian.
Non-medically indicated Nutrition Consultation:
Students may meet with a Health Educator in the Health Promotion Office if seeking information on healthy eating and a balanced diet. This service is at no cost to the student.
Confidentiality:
Nutrition Services follows all confidentiality policies at the Student Health Center.
