We are pleased to announce the following enhancements to service delivery at the Student Health Center, and key announcements for the Fall of 2008:

  • Psychiatric Medication Management Services - We are launching an innovative new model for psychiatric medication management services at the Student Health Center. This new model will provide students with access to psychiatric medication services THROUGHOUT their NYU career at a maximum out-of-pocket expense of $20 per visit. Counseling and Behavioral Health Services at SHC has always offered free short-term counseling (talk therapy) to NYU students; these services will remain free of charge and will not change with the introduction of this new model. • New Health Promotion Office - Take your health and wellness to the next level! Visit the "new" Health Promotion Office (HPO) located on the 3rd Floor of the SHC, now featuring an expanded space with greater access to health information and resources, WiFi, one-on-one counseling, and more! Always welcoming and non-judgmental, HPO staff and services are now more accessible than ever to provide health consults, safer sex supplies, and a host of new "HPO in the House" programs including Monday Morning Tea, mini-backrubs and much more! For details, drop by HPO or visit www.nyu.edu/shc/promotion.

  • Online Appointments - With our open access model, you can now make appointments online. To respond to student demand, same-day appointments are now available. Book your appointment as early as 12:00 midnight for that day. Online appointments may be made through the NYU Life tab of NYU Home.

  • Online Prescription Renewal - You can now renew your prescription medication on-line. Online prescription renewal may be accessed through the NYU Life tab of NYU Home.

  • SHC Call Center - As part of our on-going efforts to improve customer service, we have implemented a call center. You may speak directly with a member of the SHC staff who will assist you in finding the department or service you are looking for among the comprehensive medical, mental health, and educational programs and services we offer. The staff member may also direct your call to the appropriate department or individual, relieving you from having to navigate menus. The new call center can be accessed by calling 212-443-1000.

If you wish to speak to a counselor, as always, please call the Wellness Exchange hotline at 212-443-9999 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week).

  • Accreditation - The NYU Student Health Center (SHC) is pleased to announce that we have recently been accredited for 3 years by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC/Accreditation Association), the highest level of achievement. This is an important milestone in the continuing growth and success of the SHC. We have had an unwavering commitment to providing the highest levels of quality care to our student patients. Accreditation by the AAAHC is proof of this commitment, and signifies that we have met the rigorous standards of a nationally recognized external reviewer. The SHC is proud to have met the challenge of accreditation and intends to consistently uphold the principles of quality improvement and quality care.
