Fees and Payment
As a courtesy, the Billing Department will submit an itemized bill for services to the third party insurance carrier. However, the employee is responsible for knowing the terms of the health insurance policy and is ultimately responsible for payment of any balance not covered by the insurance plan. NYU Student Health Center (SHC) is an award-winning healthcare facility conveniently located on the Washington Square campus that provides comprehensive medical services designed specifically to respond to the health and mental health needs of NYU students and promote a healthier, safer campus. As members of the NYU community, faculty and staff may also utilize the following services at SHC:

Clinical services at SHC are available for first aid within the Primary Care unit for job-related injuries as well as required examinations.
Pharmacy Services

The Pharmacy at the SHC is a full-service retail pharmacy accepting over 70 prescription plans. It is a Caremark "Care Select" pharmacy.
Eyewear & Optometry Services

SHC has a full service retail Eyewear shop offering a wide variety of frames, designer and discount lenses, sport lenses, contact lenses, and accessories. Optometry and Ophthalmology services are also available for faculty and staff including routine and medically indicated eye exams for eye disease. United Health Care and Eye Med (formerly Eye Care Plan of America) are accepted.
Travel Medicine Program

If you plan to travel outside of the United States, stop by the Travel Medicine Services office first. They will provide you, at a reasonable cost, with a consultation on the latest health information about the country to which you are traveling. They are also equipped to provide, for a fee, a wide variety of recommended vaccinations including Hepatitis A, Varicella, Meningitis, and Yellow Fever.
Radiology

These services require a referral from your physician and are available by appointment or walk-in. Services are billed through the NYU School of Medicine's Radiology Faculty Practice Group, and all NYU employee benefit plans are accepted.
Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy Services are provided for job-related injuries (Workers' Compensation) as well as for rehabilitation of personal injuries. Services require a referral from your physician. SHC participates with United Healthcare.
