Payment Options

In order to minimize administrative costs, the NYU-sponsored Health Insurance Plans have annual policy periods. If you enroll in an NYU-sponsored plan before the September 30 Fall deadline, you may choose from the following payment options:

  1. The entire annual insurance fee charged at the time of Fall registration, with no insurance charge at Spring registration
  2. The insurance fee charged partially at the time of Fall registration and the remainder at Spring registration

Whether you select payment option A or B in the Fall term, you may not waive or change plans in the following Spring term.

January graduates (and other students not registering for Spring 2010), please note:
Choosing the annual option will guarantee that your coverage will remain effective during the entire policy year, even though you will not be enrolled for classes in Spring 2010. Coverage at the student rate is much less expensive than coverage at the Continuation Option rate.

We strongly recommend that you select annual enrollment before the Fall term deadline to avoid temporary gaps in coverage caused by late Spring registration, a change in your program registration, or similar circumstances.

If you chose the two-payment option:

  • Students enrolled in an NYU plan in Fall 2009 will be enrolled in the same plan and billed the appropriate Spring/Summer 2010 insurance fee at the time of Spring 2010 registration, regardless of credit load.
  • Students who are enrolled in an NYU Plan in Fall 2009 who choose to pay the insurance fee separately by term cannot be billed automatically for Spring/Summer 2010 if they do not register for classes in Spring 2010. Call Student Health Insurance Services at 212-443-1020 for information on how to maintain enrollment.
  • The insurance fees cannot be prorated separately for Spring 2010 and Summer 2010, or for any part of an academic term.
