AlcoholEdu® for Parents

Thank you for your interest in AlcoholEdu® for College. Please follow the numbered instructions below for accessing the course.

As a reminder, on 8/6/09, your student received an email in their NYU email account with detailed instructions about how to log in to the course. As you will see, AlcoholEdu® for College includes several survey questions as well as knowledge exams. The survey questions are not present in the course version taken by students under 18 years of age.

As part of NYU's commitment to maintaining student confidentiality and privacy, no student is asked to provide identifying information while taking the course. Each student is assigned a personalized Unique ID, i.e. 12345. In this way, all data from a student's course – quiz answers, surveys answers and exam responses and grades – are linked only to the Unique ID – not to any personally identifying information such as name, student ID number or even NYU email address.

You will log in to a standardized Demonstration Version of the course that prompts you to provide a few pieces of identifying information. If you prefer to use an alias for purposes of accessing the course, feel free to do so. An email address is requested to enable part of the standardized email reminder system.

To take AlcoholEdu® for College, you will need a computer with internet access and audio capabilities.

1. Go to: http://college.alcoholedu.com/login.aspx
2. Please review the minimum technical requirements available at the bottom of the AlcoholEdu for College login page.
3. Under ‘NEW USER’ enter the following Login ID, all in caps: 9C193900PARENT (this is for parents ONLY)
4. Click ‘Submit’ and follow the on-screen prompts to create an account profile. If you prefer, you can use an alias. You must fill in all fields other than ‘Middle Initial’. Under ‘Year of Study’, click ‘Other’ and type in ‘Parent’ in the box to the right. You can use an existing email address or make one up – you will just not receive the email reminders to complete the course. Pick a password you will remember easily. Make sure to check the box at the bottom stating you are a parent. If you do not, you will be blocked from proceeding.
5. You may log in and out of the course at the end of each section. Section ends are marked with a ‘Next’ button. DO NOT log out until you click the ‘Next’ button or you will have to repeat the section you have just gone through.
6. When you return, log in as a Returning User and enter the same email address and password you created when you first logged into the course.
7. Please note that it is not essential for you to respond to the survey questions while taking AlcoholEdu® for College.

Should you experience any difficulties or require support, the AlcoholEdu Online Technical Support Center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Simply click on the 'Technical Help' button located in the upper right-hand corner of every AlcoholEdu for College screen. You do not need to be logged into the course to access the Technical Support Center.
