Specialty care, procedures, and some ancillary services at the SHC will incur charges. Click here for a sample of services the Health Services Fee entitles you to. For billable services, the SHC will bill the student for these services or file insurance claims on your behalf. As a courtesy to the student, the Billing Department will submit an itemized bill for services for any other third party carrier. However, the student is responsible for knowing the terms of their insurance policy and is ultimately responsible for payment. For more information on fees for services, call SHC Patient Accounts at 212-443-1010.
Payment of Fees
Payment of co-pays and fees may be made using cash, personal check, NYUCard, or credit card (MasterCardTM, VisaTM, DiscoverTM, or American ExpressTM) and is expected at the time of service. Following payment, you may forward your SHC billing statement to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. Payment plans may be arranged. All overdue accounts are transferred to the Bursar for collection. Uncollected accounts may bar you from registering for classes, graduating, and receiving transcripts.
Billing and Patient Accounts
The Student Health Center billing department is staffed by friendly, qualified financial counselors who are happy to assist you with your medical bill questions or concerns. The billing department staff will work with the student's health insurance company to ensure that all claims are processed accurately and promptly. The staff assists students in completing and filing application for the Pharmaceutical Assistance Program, Graduate Student Medical Emergency Fund, or any other financial programs available to help with medical expenses.
If you are experiencing difficulty paying your bill, financial counseling is available to assist you. For more information about fees, billing or financial counseling, call SHC Patient Accounts at 212-443-1010.
