From JFK and LaGuardia Airports: Take
a cab directly to the hotel (metered fare) approximately $35.00 from
LaGuardia plus bridge/tunnel toll and tip for the driver. From JFK the
fare is a flat rate of $35.00, plus bridge/tunnel toll and tip for the
driver.

Visit the airport ground transportation desk
for information and reservations on the airport bus to Grand Central
Station and Shuttle to the hotel for $15.00 or SuperShuttle shared ride
van, which drops you directly at the hotel for approximately $19.00.
From Newark Airport: Airport bus to the
Port Authority Bus Station and cab or E Subway Uptown to the 7th Avenue
stop outside the hotel.
Car Parking: Park at New York Parking
garage adjacent to the hotel between 51st and 52nd streets just West
of 7th Avenue. Rates are approximately $27.00 per 24 hours.
To NYU’s Washington Square campus from the Sheraton
New York Hotel
Manhattan’s avenues run north and south, streets
east and west. Most even-numbered streets lead east.
By Taxi:
Go Downtown (south) on 5th Avenue or Broadway
to West 4th Street and Mercer Street. The fare is approximately $10.00
depending on time of day and traffic conditions. Return Uptown (northbound)
via 6th Avenue.
By Subway:
E train: Exit the hotel, turn left and
the entrance to the subway is on the corner of 53rd Street and 7th Avenue.
Take the subway Downtown to the West 4th Street Station. Exit the station
and walk East toward the NYU campus on West 4th Street (about 5 blocks).
Tisch Hall, 40 West 4th Street, is at the rear of the large plaza on
the right side of the street just past the library and Shimkin hall.
N or R train: Exit the hotel, turn right
and walk 3 blocks to the corner of 49th Street and 7th Avenue. Take
the N or R train downtown to 8th Street and walk west 1 block to Mercer
Street and Downtown (in the direction of traffic) 4 blocks to West 4th
Street. Make a right turn. Tisch Hall, 40 West 4th Street, is at the
rear of the large plaza on the left side of the street.

Directions to NYU's Campus
By Taxi:
From La Guardia, Kennedy, or Newark Airport,
take the airport shuttle bus to Port Authority Bus Terminal or Grand
Central Station. From Port Authority, take the Eighth Avenue subway
(A or E train) downtown to West Fourth Street-Washington Square Station,
or from Grand Central, take the Lexington Avenue subway (No. 6 train)
downtown to Astor Place Station. Cabs and car services are available
at the airport and, even though they cost more, they are your best bet
if you have a lot of luggage. Plan on spending at least $25 to $40 depending
on the airport and time of day.
By Train:
Metro North into Grand Central Station
Take the Lexington Avenue subway (No.
6 train) downtown to Astor Place Station. Go west on Astor Place to
Broadway. Walk south on Broadway to Waverly Place. Walk westward on
Waverly Place until you reach Washington Square.
Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and Amtrak into
Pennsylvania Station
Take the 8th avenue subway (A and E trains) downtown to West Fourth
Street-Washington Square Station. Walk east on West Fourth Street until
you reach Washington Square.
PATH Trains from New Jersey
To Ninth Street Station (Sixth Avenue and Ninth Street), then walk south
to West Fourth Street and east to Washington Square.
By Bus:
All Greyhound and New Jersey Transit buses go
to the Port Authority Terminal. Port Authority marine terminals in New
York and New Jersey are open and operating normally. From there, take
the Eighth Avenue subway downtown (see By Subway below).
By Subway:
Take the Lexington Avenue subway (No. 6 train)
to Astor Place Station. Go west on Astor Place to Broadway. Walk south
on Broadway to Waverly Place. Walk westward on Waverly Place until you
reach Washington Square.
Take the Broadway subway to Eighth Street Station
(N or R train usually - N service has been temporarily replaced by the
M in Brooklyn and the W in Manhattan and Queens). At Broadway walk south
to Waverly Place. Walk westward on Waverly Place until you reach Washington
Square.
Take the Sixth Avenue subway to West Fourth Street-Washington
Square Station (A, C, E, F, or S train - C service has been replaced
by the E in Brooklyn, and the S from Times Square to Grand Central has
no service at night). Walk east on West Fourth Street until you reach
Washington Square.
Take the Seventh Avenue subway to Christopher
Street-Sheridan Square Station (1 or 9). Walk east on Christopher Street
to West Fourth Street. Continue east to Washington Square.
By Car:
All MTA bridges and tunnels are open in both
directions with the exception of the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel which remains
closed in both directions.
From the Bronx and Upstate NY
Take the NY State Thruway, which becomes the Major Deegan Expressway
in the Bronx, to the Triborough Bridge (toll). Cross to Manhattan taking
the FDR Drive. Follow the FDR Drive south to Houston Street. Continue
west on Houston Street past Broadway to La Guardia Place. Turn right
(north) and follow La Guardia Place to Washington Square.
From Connecticut
ake the New England Thruway (I-95) into the Bronx. Then, take the
Bruckner Expressway (I-278) to the Triborough Bridge (toll). Cross to
Manhattan taking the FDR Drive south to Houston Street. Continue west
on Houston Street past Broadway to La Guardia Place. Turn right (north)
and follow La Guardia Place to Washington Square.
From the Northwest, West, and South including
New Jersey
Take the I-95 and/or the New Jersey Turnpike to the Lincoln Tunnel (the
Holland Tunnel to Manhattan is closed). Once through the tunnel, go
north on Sixth Avenue (also called Avenue of the Americas). Turn right
(east) on Waverly Place and continue until you reach Washington Square.
From the George Washington Bridge
Take the Henry Hudson Parkway (turns into the West Side Highway/12th
Avenue) south to 23rd Street. Turn left (east) on 23rd Street to Fifth
Avenue. Turn right (south) on Fifth Avenue to Washington Square.
From Brooklyn
Take the Manhattan Bridge. Off the bridge, take Canal Street west
to Sixth Avenue (also called Avenue of the Americas). Take Sixth Avenue
north to West Fourth Street and travel east to Washington Square.
From Queens
Take the 59th Street Bridge and turn left (south) on Fifth Avenue.
Fifth Avenue ends at the Washington Square campus.
From Staten Island
Take the Staten Island Express across the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge
crossing into Brooklyn. Take the Belt Parkway west to the Brooklyn-Queens
Expressway (BQE) east. Take the Manhattan Bridge exit, cross over the
bridge, and take Canal Street west to Sixth Avenue (also called Avenue
of the Americas). Turn right (north) on to Sixth Avenue to West Fourth
Street. Turn right (east) and travel to Washington Square.
From Long Island
Take the Long Island Expressway (also called the L.I.E. or I-495)
west to the Queens-Midtown Tunnel. Drive west on 37th Street to Fifth
Avenue. Turn left (south) on Fifth Avenue until it ends at the Washington
Square campus.
By Boat:
Take the Staten Island Ferry to Whitehall Terminal
in Manhattan and take the Seventh Avenue subway (1) uptown to Christopher
Street-Sheridan Square Station (see By Subway).
There are no vehicles allowed on the Ferry until
further notice.
Brooklyn Ferry Service: there will be new ferry
service from Brooklyn Army Terminal to the Whitehall Ferry Terminal
in lower Manhattan.
