National Scholarship Competitions | National Prestigious Scholarships
Following are the National Prestigious Scholarships that require endorsement from New York University. PAUL AND DAISY SOROS FOUNDATION
Campus Deadline: October 1
Final Deadline: November 1
Provides tuition and $20,000 stipend for up to two years of graduate study in any professional field or scholarly discipline. Candidates must:
>be less than 30 years of age
>be a "Green Card" holder, a naturalized citizen, or the child of two naturalized citizens
>complete the bachelor's degree

HENRY LUCE FOUNDATION
Campus Deadline: October 1
Final Deadline: 1st Monday in November
Recipients spend eleven months in an Asian country assigned to an internship in their field. Open to senior undergraduates, graduate students and recent alumni. Those specializing in Asian studies are not eligible. Candidates must:
>be less than 30 years of age
>be a U.S. citizen
>have received a bachelor's degree prior to the year of the grant
>have a record of achievement, leadership ability, and a clearly defined career interest

WINSTON CHURCHILL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Campus Deadline: October 1
Final Deadline: mid-November
Provides full tuition plus up to £12,000 stipend, travel allowance, and potential additional research funding toward graduate work in engineering, mathematics and the physical and natural sciences at Churchill College, Cambridge University. Candidates must:
>be a U.S. citizen
>submit the results of the Graduate Record Examinations, General Test
>demonstrate character, adaptability and a demonstrated concern for the critical problems of society
>be between the ages of 19 and 26

HARRY S. TRUMAN SCHOLARSHIPS
Campus Deadline: November 1
Final Deadline: Early Febuary
For senior year undergraduate and graduate study in government and public service. Awards a maximum of $3,000 for the senior year and up to $27,000 for graduate study. Candidates must:
>be an undergraduate junior
>be a U.S. citizen
>have a highly competitive G.P.A.
>have a major that permits admission to a graduate program leading to a career in government or public service

BARRY M. GOLDWATER SCHOLARSHIPS
Campus Deadline: November 1
Final Deadline: early February
For undergraduate study leading to careers in mathematics or natural science or engineering. Awards up to $7,500 for the remaining year(s) of study. Candidates must:
>be a sophomore or junior at the time of application
>be a U.S. citizen, national/resident alien
>have a highly competitive grade point average

NSEP Boren Scholarships
Campus Deadline: December 1
Final Deadline: early February
Undergraduate scholarships for summer, semester or year-long study abroad. Awards range from $2,500 to $20,000. Candidates must:
>be a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior
>be a U.S. citizen
>apply to a study abroad program related to academic and career goals

MORRIS K. UDALL SCHOLARSHIPS
Campus Deadline: December 1
Final Deadline: Early March
For undergraduates who intend to pursue careers in environmental public policy. The Foundation will award approximately 75 scholarships to cover eligible expense for tuition, fees, books, and room and board, up to a maximum of $5,000. Candidates must:
>be a college sophomore or junior at the time of application
>have a college grade-point average of at least "B"
>be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or U.S. national
>demonstrate commitment and potential to make a contribution to environmental public policy and to foster excellence in the field

JAMES MADISON FELLOWSHIPS

Final Deadline: early March
For students who demonstrate academic excellence and commitment to becoming a secondary school teacher of American history, government, or social studies. Awards support up to two years of study and a maximum of $24,000. Candidates must:

>be a U.S. citizen or national
>be a college senior or recent graduate
>have a competitive G.P.A.
>plan to pursue full-time graduate study
>plan to teach full-time in a secondary school

Provides a stipend of $20,000 over two
years to help immigrant students persue
their American Dream. Candidates must:

>be an immigrant who has citizenship or permanent resident status
>be a full-time college senior
>have a demonstrated record of academic achievement, leadership activity, and consistent ethical behavior
>clearly articulate their American Dream

BEINECKE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

For the senior undergraduate year and graduate study in a field in which a student demonstrates unusual ability. An initial grant of $2,000 is followed by a $15,000 stipend during each of the first two years of graduate study. Candidates must:
>be an undergraduate junior at the time of application
>be a U.S. citizen

J. WILLIAM FULBRIGHT GRANT

NYU Final Deadline (Undergraduates & Graduates): mid-September
For one year of independent research, graduate study or teaching English abroad. Candidates must:

>be a U.S. citizen
>hold a bachelor's degree before the beginning date of the grant
>present a study plan or project which can be completed in one academic year

MARSHALL SCHOLARSHIP

For undergraduate or graduate study in a British college or university for two years. Awards average £19,000 per year. Candidates must:

>be a U.S. citizen
>have graduated from their undergraduate college or university no more than two years before applying
>have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.7
>hold a bachelor's degree for admission to a British college or university
>present an academic plan and demonstrate potential to make a significant contribution to society

For study toward a master's or second bachelor's degree at the University of Oxford. Includes tuition and stipend. Candidates must:

>be between eighteen and twenty-three years of age
>be a U.S. citizen and unmarried
>have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.7
>complete the bachelor's degree for admission by an Oxford College
>demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, concern for others, and fondness for and success in sports

GEORGE J. MITCHELL SCHOLARSHIP

For one year of study or research at one of nine institutions in Ireland or Northern Ireland. Includes tuition and stipend of $11,000, plus a travel stipend. Candidates must:

>be a U.S. citizen
>have a demonstrated record of intellectual distinction, leadership activity and extra-curricular activity
>demonstrate honesty, integrity, fairness and unselfish service to others, indicating a potential for future leadership and contribution to society
>complete the bachelor's degree for admission to the proposed university

GATES CAMBRIDGE TRUST

For graduate study at the University of Cambridge. Candidates must:

> have a demonstrated record of academic achievement, leadership activity, and service to their community
> hold, or expect to obtain before the application deadline, a bachelor's degree
>gain admission to the University of Cambridge and to a constituent college
> may be citizens of any country outside the UK

WOODROW WILSON FELLOWSHIP FOR ASPIRING TEACHERS OF COLOR
Campus Deadline: September 15
Final Deadline: October 15
Provides a $30,000 fellowship to support enrollment in a graduate education program that leads to a Master's degree and certification in the subject area. Strong candidates will not have expressed previous interest in a career in education. Candidates must:

> be current seniors at the time of application
> be U.S. citizens
>be majoring in a liberal arts field
>have a minimum 3.0 GPA
>identify as a person of color
