Design Standards

NYU owns, leases and operates an enormous variety of facilities in over 15 million square feet of property in its various Manhattan locations. In order to effectively guide the design and construction of all renovation and new construction projects, the Office of Strategic Planning, Assessment and Design, in collaboration with Facilities and Construction Management, has created the NYU Sustainable Design Standards and Guidelines. This document will assist architects, engineers, project managers and clients within and outside the University as they collaborate to design and construct these projects, and adherence to these is a contractual requirement for architects, consultants and contractors. The primary objectives of these guidelines are to advance the University’s efforts in promoting efficiency, design and construction quality, and sustainability
