SAPD coordinates preliminary architectural studies and programming for major projects at the University. The following planning studies are currently underway at NYU and managed by SAPD.

| Architect: Morris Adjmi Architects Anticipated Completed: Winter 2008 Brief Description SAPD is developing a feasibility study to renovate the existing 10,000 square foot, townhouse on the north side of Washington Square Park, central to the NYU Campus. One of the goals of the project is to maintain the exterior historic context of the original 1833 building facing the Park while also facing the private MacDougal Alley to the North. The Architect also will be presenting options to integrate natural light down and throughout the interior spaces. |
| Classroom Utilization Study |
| Architect: Einhorn Yaffee and Prescott & Scott Blackwell Page Anticipated Completed: Fall 2007 Brief Description This six-month classroom utilization planning study aims to develop long-term strategies for the effective utilization of 179 general-purpose classrooms at the University's Washington Square campus, the individual schools' proprietary teaching spaces, and potential classrooms in other spaces. The overall goal of the study is to develop a long-range classroom planning strategy, which addresses current and future pedagogical needs, promotes classroom utilization, including flexible uses, and takes into consideration the efficiency of locations for Washington Square classrooms. The study includes a detailed analysis of current and future teaching methods and projected enrollments, as well the existing physical conditions of the classrooms. |

| Architect: Ehrenkrantz Eckstut & Kuhn Architects Anticipated Completed: Fall 2007 Brief Description The Planning and Space Utilization Study will help The Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development understand its current and long range space needs and offer alternatives on how to re-envision this space so that the School can accommodate its needs more strategically and efficiently. In particular, the Study will look at the school's priorities and offer solutions to accommodate these needs. |
