Jumpstart is a national early education organization that recruits and trains college students and community Corps members to serve preschool children in low-income neighborhoods.

Jumpstart for a Day is an annual festival celebrating literacy and service that brings volunteer groups from local universities and groups together with young children. This will be our third year hosting JFAD in the Lower East Side of Manhattan!

Volunteers host an activity table in the park, read with children and support them in exploratory and literacy enrichment activities that are designed to help them develop the language and literacy skills necessary for school success.  Many of the activities will introduce a children’s book and offer activities related to the book.  For example, planned activities include puppet making and book making.

Volunteers will receive confirmation emails and more information after filling out the RSVP. Individuals will be given specific assignments on the day of the event.

We look forward to seeing you there!

This RSVP page is specifically for the morning shift - 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.  If you are interested in volunteering in the afternoon from 12:30-2:30, please visit: http://www.nyu.edu/rsvp/event.php?e_id=4540
