Bringing a new baby into the family is a joyful event. And, yet, many of the changes that comes with parenting can be dramatic and unexpected. As the family unit grows from two to three or more, even the strongest relationship can feel the stress and be challenged by combining couplehood with parenthood. Join us as Judith Siegel, faculty, NYU Silver School of Social Work, discusses the most common challenges faced by couples, explores the skills and strategies that can help couples keep their relationship strong while growing and nurturing their family, and provides guidance on how to balance the needs of the individual, couple, and family unit.
Instructor: Dr. Judith Siegel is an Associate Professor with the NYU Silver School of Social Work and a marriage and family therapist in private practice. She is the author of the recent book, Stop Overreacting: Effective Strategies for Calming Your Emotion, Her previous books include What Children Learn from Their Parents’ Marriage, and Repairing Intimacy: An Object Relations Approach to Couples Therapy.
